Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on May 6, 2014, receiving 58.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Thomas J. Freeman.
General: He defeated David Brode in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 52.2 percent of the vote. [2][3]
