A Boonville City Sales Tax Increase question was on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Cooper County, which is in Missouri, where it was approved.
This measure sought to increase the city sales tax by a rate of .5% in order to help pay for a mandated EPA waste water project as well as additional projects at the Kemper Military Campus in the city. The city had originally thought to place the measure on the August ballot, but then later moved it to November so a to give residents more time to understand the issue. The EPA project has to be done in the city and officials thought that a sales tax increase was the best option to obtain additional money in the city.[1]
