Brisbane School District Parcel Tax, Measure Q (April 2012)
A Brisbane School District parcel tax, Measure Q ballot question was on the April 10, 2012 ballot for voters in the Brisbane School District in San Mateo County, where it was approved.[1][2]
Measure Q levies an additional $156 annual parcel tax for six years. The Measure Q tax will be in addition to the Measure W tax of $119/parcel, which the district's voters approved on March 8, 2011. The total parcel tax, with the approval of Measure Q, will be $275/parcel.
The Brisbane School District includes two elementary schools and one middle school.[3]
The election was held as a mail-in ballot election. A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was needed for approval.

MEASURE Q: "To maintain local control of our K-8 schools, provide funds needed to lower class sizes, protect classroom and library programs, maintain classroom computers and technology, and to hire/retain qualified teachers and staff; shall the Brisbane School District be authorized to collect an additional qualified special tax with an annual cost of $156 beginning 7/01/2012, offering an exemption to those 65 and older?"[4] |
