COMBAT Tax Renewal Proposition(November 2009)
There was a COMBAT Tax Renewal Proposition on the November 3 ballot in Jackson County.
This measure was approved[1]
This tax is called the Community Backed Anti-Drug Sales Tax, shortened to COMBAT, and has been in effect for the past 20 years within the county. The tax helps pay for anti-drug police squads and drug treatment and prevention programs within the county. The past two times the tax has been up for renewal it has been passed. The tax doesn't expire till next year, but proponents for it wanted to hold a special election for the tax so it does not get lost among the busy election season in 2010.[2]
