Candidates line up for new Helena judgeship

Helena, Montana: In 2009, the Montana Legislature added a new judgeship to the Montana 1st Judicial District Court. Five candidates are competing to fill this vacant position in the June 8, 2010 primary.[1]
- Carlo Canty is currently a partner and trial lawyer with the firm of "Browning, Kaleczyc, Berry and Hoven." He has also worked as a Deputy County Attorney, Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney.[2]
- Dennis Loveless has worked as a Montana Supreme Court Mediator, an Administrative Law Judge, and has held various positions as a Montana state employee. He has practiced law in Helena for 25 years.[3]
- Karen Powell is currently a chairwoman on the Montana State Tax Appeal Board. She has also worked as a law clerk, Assistant Attorney General, Deputy Securities Commissioner, Deputy State Auditor, and a business owner.[4]
- Jim Reynolds is a co-founder of the firm "Reynolds, Motl & Sherwood, PLLP," with which he has worked since 1979.[5][6]
- Paul Stahl has served as a Chief Deputy County Attorney for 24 years. He has also worked as a teacher of Constitutional law and English.[7]
