Chris Giles

Chris Giles is a judge of the First Judicial Circuit in South Dakota. He was appointed by Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) on July 25, 2017, to replace retired Judge Timothy Bjorkman. He served for the remainder of Bjorkman's term, which expired in 2022.[1]
Giles was previously a magistrate judge for the Third Judicial Circuit from 2015 to 2017.[2]
Biography
Giles received an undergraduate degree from Dakota State University in 1989. He received a J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1992. Giles was elected twice as a Lake County commissioner, holding that position from January 2009 to March 2013. He has also been elected four times as the Lake County State’s Attorney. In addition, he has been an attorney in private practice.[2]
