Cigarette companies seek to block thousands of cases in Florida
January 26, 2010
Florida: Several cigarette manufacturers, including Altria Group Inc.’s Philip Morris USA unit, have asked a federal appeals court to stop trial courts from using findings endorsed by a 2006 Florida Supreme Court decision. The cigarette companies claim that using the ruling would deprive them of due process and that the findings do not apply to any of 4,000 pending cases.[1]
