Gov. Christie replaces Judicial Advisory Panel members

New Jersey: Gov. Christie has named new members to the New Jersey Judicial Advisory Panel after the former panel members quit out of protest of his decision not to reappoint Justice John Wallace to the Supreme Court. The new panel has similar rules to its predecessor, except that the minimum number of former judges on the panel was reduced from five to three. The new members, listed below, will serve five-year terms.

  • Chairman Peter Verniero - Partner of Sills Cummis & Gross and former Supreme Court Justice
  • Rosemary Alito - Partner in law firm of Connell Foley and President of New Jersey State Bar Foundation
  • John Degnan - Vice Chairman/Chief Operating Officer, The Chubb Corp.
  • Harriett Derman - Of Counsel to DiFrancesco, Bateman, Coley, Yospin, Kunzman, Davis & Lehrer and former Superior Court judge
  • W. Cary Edwards - Of Counsel to Waters McPherson McNeil and Chairman of the State Commission of Investigation.
  • Bette Uhrmacher - retired Monmouth County Superior Court judge
