Governor Schwarzenegger announces five judicial appointments

California: On August 11, Governor Schwarzenegger nominated and appointed five individuals to state courts in California. Two judges were nominated to the California Courts of Appeal, two attorneys were nominated to California Superior Courts and one was nominated as a presiding judge.
- Carol D. Codrington was nominated to fill a vacancy on the California Fourth District Court of Appeal. She is currently a judge on the Riverside County Superior Court.[1]
- Louis R. Mauro was nominated to the California Third District Court of Appeal. If confirmed he will fill the vacancy left by Fred K. Morrison. Mauro is currently a judge on the Sacramento County Superior Court.[2]
- Brad Hill was nominated to become presiding judge of the California Fifth District Court of Appeal.[3]
All three of these appointments must be confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments. If confirmed, Hill and Codrington will need to be approved by voters in the general election. Mauro would take office immediately.[4]
- Richard Y. Lee was appointed to the Superior Court of Riverside County, California. Prior to appointment, he served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California.[5]
- Patricia L. Kelly was appointed to the Santa Barbara County Superior Court. She served as a deputy district attorney for Santa Barbara County prior to her appointment.[6]
