Indiana forms group to assess civic engagement
April 13, 2011
Indiana: Concerned by a disturbing trend of decreasing civic knowledge, Chief Justice Randall Shepard and former Congressman Lee Hamilton, along with the Indiana Bar Foundation and the National Conference on Citizenship will create the Indiana Civic Health Index. The goal of this commission is to study civic engagement, analyzing information such as census figures, to gauge the basic level of participation of Indiana's citizenry. Once the Index is created, the branches of government and civic groups can identify how to correct the problem.[1][2]
