Indiana woman sentenced to three years for improper tax returns

South Bend, Indiana: A woman in Indiana was sentenced to over three years in federal prison for taking false deductions for clients on over 400 tax returns. Each of the returns reviewed by an agent at the Internal Revenue Service included a fraudulent deduction for an Individual Retirement Account. Joann Joyner-Williams has been preparing taxes for supplemental income since 1999, despite having no formal training. Judge Jon E. DeGuilio, of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, will allow her to report to the federal prison nearest her home to start serving her sentence in March 2011.[1]
