Jefferson City Charter Amendments, 5 (April 2010)

Five Jefferson City Charter Amendments were on the April 6, 2010 ballot in the city of Jefferson which is in Cole County.

Three of the five measures were approved

The first amendment sought to amend the charter so that the eight year term limit for council members does not include becoming a council member in the middle of a term.

The second amendment sought to make it so that if a citizen wanted to run for mayor they could not have any outstanding debts owed to the city.

The third amendment sought to make it so police commissioners are not appointed based on party affiliation and that police officers are allowed to attend their disciplinary hearings.

The fourth amendment sought to allow council members to change ward boundaries when and if needed.

The fifth amendment sought to allow the city council to contract directly with franchise agreements.[1]
