Kentucky 31st District Court

Jimmy "Blue" Marcum is the chief district court judge for the 31st District Court, which serves Floyd County in Kentucky. He was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear in December 2011 and was elected to the court in November 2012.[1][2]

Marcum was re-elected without opposition in 2014, winning a four-year term that expired on January 6, 2019.[3]

Marcum ran unopposed for a seat on the 31st District Court.[4] He won with 100% of the votes.[1]

Education

Marcum earned his J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law in Ohio.[5]

Career

Prior to his judicial appointment in 2011, Marcum was an assistant county attorney for Floyd County. He also worked as an associate with the law firm of Vanover, Hall & Bartley and as a city attorney for the cities of Allen, Wayland and Wheelwright.[5]
