Joseph D. Valentino
Joseph D. Valentino is a former supervising judge of Criminal Courts for the New York Supreme Court 7th Judicial District in New York. He was appointed to this position in 2011. He also served as a justice of the Monroe County Supreme Court.[1]
He was also appointed to the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department by Governor Andrew Cuomo on October 1, 2012.[2]
Valentino retired when his term ended in December 2015.[3]
Education
Valentino received his B.A. from Niagara University in 1968 and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1971.[1]
Career
Valentino began his career as an associate of the law firm Palmiere, Passero, and Crimi. He worked as a Special Assistant District Attorney of Major Felony Crime Prosecution in Monroe County from 1974 to 1982. Since 1987, he has taught as an adjunct professor of criminal law at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Valentino began his judicial career in 1983, following election to the Rochester City Court. He worked in this capacity through 2001. During this time, he served on the Rochester Drug Treatment Court from 1997 to 2001 and was an acting judge for Monroe County in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, he was elected to the Supreme Court. He became Supervising Judge of the 7th Judicial District Criminal Courts in 2011.[1]
