Keith Schultz was the Area 4 incumbent on the Sumter School Board in South Carolina. He was defeated by challenger Johnny Hilton in the general election on November 4, 2014.

The November 4, 2014, general election in the Sumter School District featured four seats up for election. In the District 1 race, five challengers sought the seat held by Larry Addison since he did not file for re-election. They were Brian L. Alston, Linda V. Alston, Daniel Cook, Caleb M. Kershaw Jr. and Philip Marlowe. District 2 incumbent Karen Michalik faced challenger Jeremiah Sumpter. In the District 3 race, incumbent Patty L. Wilson faced three challengers, Lamar Atkins, Lucille S. McQuilla and Michele Reese. Incumbent Keith Schultz faced challenger Johnny Hilton for the District 4 seat.

Funding

Candidates were required to file a quarterly finance report with the South Carolina State Ethics Commission for the November general election by October 10, 2014. This report covered the period of July 1, 2014, through September 30, 2014. Candidates were also required to file a pre-election report no later than 15 days prior to the election. A final report is due after the campaign has closed. Candidates for local school boards may not accept more than $1,000 from individuals and $5,000 from political parties.[1]
