Three of seven seats on the Birdville Independent School District board of trustees were up for at-large general election on May 6, 2017. In Place 1, incumbent Joe Tolbert filed for re-election and won unopposed. The Place 2 incumbent did not file for re-election, and three candidates faced each other for the seat: Kelvin Dilks defeated R. Greg Bell and Marty Lanier Hoag. The race for the Place 3 seat was a special election that comes with a one-year term. In 2016, former trustee Brad Greene resigned and Sharon Mylius was appointed to fill the seat. Mylius did not file for election to the position and Whitney Harding won the election as an unopposed candidate.[1][2]
