Charleston, West Virginia: Allen Loughry, author of "Don't Buy Another Vote, I Won't Pay for a Landslide," has opted to run for the West Virginia Supreme Court on the Republican ticket. Loughry, who staunchly opposes West Virginia's partisan elections, chose the Republican ticket because the party backs establishing nonpartisan elections for the states higher courts. Loughry commented on his candidacy stating, "[R]unning as a Republican for the Supreme Court was an easy decision. Regardless of my party affiliation, justice must be blind of politics and I intend to strictly follow the Constitution and to represent the people of West Virginia and the judiciary with honor, integrity, and high ethical standards."[1] Loughry is currently a law clerk at the state Supreme Court and is a native of Tucker County. He has earned four law degrees from American University, University of London and Capital University.[1]
