PA On December 9, Derrick Menter was sentenced in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to life in prison for plotting to murder Judge Garrett Brown of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. The plot was hatched while Menter was serving time in Monmouth County Correctional Institution and was funded by Robert Sacks who was set to be sentenced by Brown for a multimillion-dollar telemarketing scam. The case was tried in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania by Chief Judge Harvey Bartle III to avoid conflicts of interest. Menter maintained innocence, even at the sentencing hearing. The government insisted on a life sentence.[1]
