Marci W. Adkisson is a judge on the Klamath County Circuit Court in Oregon. The court has jurisdiction over Klamath County and is located within the 13th Judicial District.[1]

Adkisson won re-election without opposition in the primary election on May 17, 2016.

Judges of the Oregon Supreme Court, Oregon Court of Appeals and Oregon Circuit Courts are all selected in an identical manner. They are chosen in nonpartisan elections to serve six-year terms, after which they must run for re-election if they wish to continue serving.[2]

The chief judges of the circuit courts are appointed by the chief justice of the state supreme court to serve a two-year term.[2]

Qualifications
To serve on the circuit court, a judge must be:[2]

  • a U.S. citizen;
  • a state resident for at least three years;
  • a resident of his or her circuit for at least one year;
  • a state bar member; and
  • under the age of 75.

Adkisson was re-elected to the Klamath County Circuit Court in 2010 after running unopposed. She received 98.86 percent of the vote.[3]

Education

Adkisson received her B.S. from Southern Oregon State College in 1985 and her J.D. from the Willamette University College of Law in 1988.[4]

Career

Prior to serving as a judge, Adkisson had worked for the Wood River Justice Court, served as an administrative deputy district attorney, as a deputy district attorney and as a judicial clerk.[4]
