Mary P. Thorstenson

Mary P. Thorstenson was a judge on the Seventh Judicial Circuit of South Dakota. She was appointed by Governor Mike Rounds in 2009. Thorstenson was one of 11 candidates recommended to the Governor by the South Dakota Judicial Qualifications Commission.[1] Thorstenson resigned and assumed her duties as an Indian Probate Judge with the Department of Interior’s Office of Hearings and Appeals on January 1, 2013.[2]
Career
Prior to her appointment to the judiciary, Thorstenson was attorney adviser in the U.S. Department of Interior’s Office of Hearings and Appeals in Rapid City.[1]
Education
Thorstenson received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota and her J.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1988.[3]
