The Maryland Alter Baltimore Public Officer Compensation Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the November 4, 1958 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure provided that the mayor and city council of Baltimore may increase or reduce the salary or compensation of any of its appointed public officers during their term of office.[1][2]
