Matt Brown (South Dakota)

Matt Brown is a circuit judge for the Seventh Judicial Circuit in South Dakota. He was appointed to the court by Republican Governor Dennis Daugaard on August 5, 2015, to occupy a newly created seat on the bench.[1]
Education
Brown earned his B.A. in political science from Gustavus Adolphus College. He earned his J.D. from the University of South Dakota's School of Law in 1999.[2]
Career
At the time of his appointment to the circuit court seat in 2015, Brown was serving as a magistrate judge for the Seventh Circuit, a position he had been appointed to in 2014. He began his legal career with the Black Hills Legal Services, then served as a prosecutor for Pennington County. He later worked for the Custer County State's Attorney's Office as a deputy state's attorney and a special assistant attorney general.[2]
