Michael D. DiReda

Michael D. DiReda is a Utah Second Judicial District judge for the Ogden District Court.[1] DiReda was first appointed to this position in December 2008 and his term expires in 2018.[2]
Education
DiReda received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Pepperdine University in 1990 and his J.D. from Pepperdine University in 1993.[2]
Career
DiReda began his legal career as a law clerk for the Second District Court from 1994 to 1995. He next served as a Deputy County Attorney in the Davis County Attorney's Office. DiReda also served as a prosecutor for Centerville City and Clinton City. In December 2008, DiReda was appointed to the Second District Court by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr.[2]

2012
DiReda stood for retention election in 2012. On November 6, 2012, DiReda was retained with 80.7% of the vote and a total of 139,768 votes.[3]

Judicial Performance Evaluation recommendation
The Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission compiled information from attorneys, court staff and jurors about the performance of all judges up for retention in 2012. Judges were evaluated based on five criteria.
A judge must score at least 3 out of 5 in each of these categories to meet the minimum performance standard. 90 attorneys responded to the following questions.
- Legal Ability: 4.4
- Communication: 4.42
- Integrity: 4.63
- Judicial temperament: 4.56
- Administrative: 4.51
