Mother to represent herself in custody battle before Georgia Supreme Court
February 15, 2010
Georgia: Nevis Jones, the mother of a child she lost custody of in a divorce case in 2002, is representing herself before the Georgia Supreme Court today, February 15. Jones attempted to gain custody in 2006 citing overcrowded living conditions and the father's, Lypell Foster, family history of violence, but a trial court ruled against her. She has appealed the case, which was then transferred to the state Supreme Court, saying that the trial court wrongly denied her custody because, she says, Foster committed perjury and slandered her in order to obtain custody.[1]
