Florida: Out of twenty-one applicants, Mose Floyd was chosen as the newest judge on the Duval County Court. He was appointed by Governor Rick Scott last week. The only problem? Floyd is not a resident of Duval County.[1]

In Florida, judges must reside in the county they serve. Appointed Judge Floyd is a resident of St. Johns County, which he clearly stated on his application. In an email, he said, "I am in the process of relocating to Duval County and will reside in Duval County before taking the bench."[1] Floyd is scheduled to start working in November.
