Norman L. Yackel was a circuit court judge for Sawyer County in Wisconsin. He was appointed to the court in March 1991 by Governor Tommy Thompson. He served on the court until July 31, 2009, when he retired. Judge Yackel passed away in August 2014.[1]

Education

Yackel received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1971.[1]

Noteworthy cases

Judge Yackel presided over the trial of Chai Vang in 2005.[1] Vang was convicted of murdering six men on a deer hunting party when they confronted him about trespassing on their property.[2]
