North Dakota Compact with United States, Measure 3 (1996)

The North Dakota Compact with United States Referendum, also known as Measure 3, was on the June 11, 1996 ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1] The measure incorporated reference provisions of the Enabling Act of 1889 by creating a new section to Article XIII of the North Dakota Constitution. It also eliminated language made unnecessary by the new section.[2] The Enabling Act of 1889 was the act that allowed Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Washington to become states.[3]
