The North Dakota Investment of School Fund Referendum, also known as Referendum to Amend Section 162, was on the November 3, 1908 ballot in North Dakota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure related to educational funding.[1]

Text of measure

The measure modified Article 8 of the North Dakota Constitution to read:[2]

The moneys of the permanent school fund and other educational shall be invested only in bonds of school corporations or of counties, or of townships, or of municipalities within the state, bonds issued for the construction of drains under authority of law within the state, bonds of United States, bonds of the state of North Dakota, bonds of other states; provided, such states have never repudiated any of their indebtedness, or mortgages on farm lands in this state, not exceeding in amount of the actual value of any subdivision on which the same may be loaned, such value to be determined by the board of appraisal of school lands.[3]
