Ohio Attorney General partially okays petition circulation by ex-felons

COLUMBUS, Ohio: In light of questions raised in early January regarding the Ohio slots referendum the Ohio Attorney General issued a statement this week saying that felons convicted before May 2006 are legally permitted to circulate petitions. Opponents argued that approximately 12 petition circulators were felons and thus the signatures should no longer be considered valid. According to Richard Cordray a 2006 law made it illegal for felons to circulate petitions, however, convicted prior to 2006 are exempt from the law.[1][2]
