According to a company statement, Penn Entertainment, Inc. "engage[s] in the public policy arena at the national and state and local levels by making political contributions to candidates for elective office, by presenting to legislators and other government officials our position on issues of iinterest to us, by participating in statewide ballot initiatives and by working with industry and trade groups, without any preference to the personal beliefs or political affiliations of any individual team members."[6]
On March 11, 2009, Penn National Gaming announced it’s support for the Ohio Jobs and Growth Plan, a statewide measure in Ohio that, if enacted, would approve of amending the Ohio Constitution to permit one casino each in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo. According to Chairman and Chief Executive Peter M. Carlino: “We are excited to be supporting what we believe is the best proposal ever to bring casino gaming to Ohio as we believe the Ohio Jobs and Growth Plan can generate significant, wide reaching near- and long-term economic benefits for the State."[7]
