Pratt will join Indiana federal court
June 16, 2010
Indiana: Yesterday, Tanya Walton Pratt received unanimous confirmation from the U.S. Senate, with a 95-0 vote. Once President Obama signs her commission, Pratt will become a judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. This confirmation makes Pratt the first African-American to serve as a federal judge in Indiana.[1]
Since 1997, Pratt has served as judge on the Marion County Superior Court. Prior to this, she was a private practice attorney and public defender for Marion County.[2]
