Rhode Island Senate committee approves three judicial nominees

Providence, Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Senate Judiciary Committee, on June 11, unanimously approved all three judicial nominees and forwarded their names to the full Senate. The following candidates now face one full-Senate vote before they are approved for office.
- Luis Matos, currently an Assistant U.S. Attorney, was approved for a seat on the Superior Court.
- John Flynn, currently serving as legal counsel to House Speaker Gordon Fox, was approved to serve as a Drug Court Magistrate.
- Charles Levesque, former State Senator, was approved to serve as Magistrate.
In addition to the judicial nominees, Stephen Waluk was approved to serve as chief District Court clerk and Mary McElroy was approved for the lead state public defender position.[1]
