Roy Welborn was a 2016 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 5th Congressional District of Missouri.[1]

Welborn was a 2014 Libertarian candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 5th Congressional District of Missouri.[2] He was defeated by incumbent Emanuel Cleaver (D) in the general election on November 4, 2014.

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as safely Democratic. Incumbent Emanuel Cleaver (D) defeated Jacob Turk (R) and Roy Welborn (L) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Cleaver defeated Robert Gough in the Democratic primary, while Turk defeated Austin Rucker, Berton Knox, and Michael Burris to win the Republican nomination. The primary elections took place on August 2, 2016.[3][4]
