Santa Clarita Valley Annexation Votes, Measures A, B and C (November 2009)

Three Santa Clarita Valley Annexation Votes, Measures A, B and C were on the November 3, 2009 ballot for voters in the affected areas of the Santa Clarita Valley in Los Angeles County. All three measures were advisory only.

Each ballot question proposed a different way to deal with seven areas: Sunset Pointe, Stevenson Ranch, Southern Oaks, Westridge, Tesoro, Castaic and Val Verde.

• Measure A, which was approved, proposed to leave each of the seven communities "as is;" that is, as "official communities in unincorporated Los Angeles."

• Measure B, which was rejected, proposed to have the seven communities meld together into a new, separate, city.

• Measure C, which was approved, proposed to have the seven communities "negotiate an annexation into the City of Santa Clarita."

Measure A (the "leave as is" option) received more votes than Measure C (the "negotiate an annexation into Santa Clarita" option).

Since all three options were advisory only, government officials were not required to take any particular course of action as a result of the votes.
