Sharifa R. Salaam
Sharifa R. Salaam is a judge of the New Jersey Vicinage 5 Superior Court. She assumed office in 2017. Her term ended in 2024.

She was appointed to the court in 2017 by then-Gov. Chris Christie (R). She will face reappointment in 2024, and if reconfirmed, she may serve on the court until she reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70.[1]
Biography
Salaam received her bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University in 1983 and her J.D. from Seton Hall Law School in 1993. She has served as an attorney for the Zoning Board of the Township of Irvington, as a legal officer for the City of Newark, and deputy freeholder counsel for the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Prior to her appointment, she had served as a judge for the East Orange Municipal Court since 2016.[2]
