PIERRE, South Dakota: Medical marijuana supporters filed about 32,000 signatures on Tuesday in an attempt to qualify the proposed South Dakota Medical Marijuana Act for the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot. The measure calls for limited use of marijuana to treat severe debilitating pain, nausea, seizures and other medical problems. Supporters are required to collect a minimum of 16,776 valid signatures.[1][2] In 2006 a similar measure was defeated with 52.3% of votes against the legalization of medical marijuana.
