WI Supreme Court to hear oral arguments on sick leave referendum

MADISON, Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on October 1, 2010 to determine if a 2008 initiative requiring paid sick days for employees working in the City of Milwaukee should be overturned[1].
The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce first filed suit after the referendum was approved by City of Milwaukee voters in 2008. In 2009, a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge ruled in MMAC's favor to invalidate the referendum[1]. The 9 to 5 Association later appealed the case to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals referred the case to the State Supreme Court on January 14, 2010[2].
No date has been set on when a ruling will be issued[1].
