The Washington Island School District Referendum was a school bond measure on the April 7 ballot in the Washington Island School District which is in Door County. The referendum was brought to the ballot by the school board, and it sought to exceed state-set revenue limits by $255,000 in 2009-2010. The additional funds will be used to pay for operational expenses.
Status
Narrowly passed, with 242 "yes" votes and 236 "no" votes.[1]
Wording of referendum
Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Washington, Door County, Wisconsin, that the final school district budget for the 2009-10 school year shall include, on a nonrecurring basis, an amount of $255,000 in excess of the revenue limits imposed by Section 121.91(2m) of the Wisconsin Statutes for the purpose of paying the cost of district operating expenses[2]
