William F. Lee, Jr.
William F. Lee Jr. was the Chief Judge of the Coweta Circuit of Georgia.[1] Lee retired from the court on May 1, 2012.[2]
Misconduct allegations
In 2012, the state Judicial Qualifications Commission investigated Lee for judicial misconduct. He threw out a statutory rape conviction and instead let the defendant plead "no contest" to child cruelty. That would have kept the defendant off the sex offender registry, had another judge not reinstated the original conviction.[3] Lee was also accused of entering the order without notifying all parties in the case, and engaging in improper communication with attorneys. Since Lee retired before a hearing on the matter, the investigation was dropped.[2]
