R. Kirk Griffin

R. Kirk Griffin is an at-large judge for the South Carolina Circuit Courts.[1] He was elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly in February 2019.[2] He was re-elected on February 3, 2021, to a term expiring in 2027.[3]

Education

Griffin received his B.A. in government from Wofford College in 1996 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 2000.[2]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Griffin was a law clerk for Judge Thomas W. Cooper, Jr., an associate at Bryan Law Firm, part-time prosecutor for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, attorney at Bryan, Horne, and Griffin, LLC, contract public defender in Sumter County, and an assistant and deputy solicitor for the Third Circuit Solicitor’s Office.[2]
