Three vacancies to come in Lane County
April 29, 2011
Oregon: On Tuesday, April 19, Gov. John Kitzhaber has announced that he is seeking replacements for three judges set to retire from the Lane County Circuit Court by July. The judges set to retire are Douglas S. Mitchell, to leave the bench on May 1, followed by Jack Billings and Ted Carp, both to depart on July 1. The news did come as a surprise to Lane County District Attorney Alex Gardner, who said, "We knew a number of retirements were imminent. There may be one or two more before the year’s out. In some respects, it’s hard to lose all that experience and have the turnover be so substantial."[1]
