  • Jones will lead City Council on passing legislation that will bring job opportunities and training directly to Ward 8.
  • Jones will support a co-responder model regarding public safety that would give options for emergency situations to dispatch the proper department to come and assist residents, whether it be Fire, Police, EMS or Mental Health.
  • Jones will work for transparency and accountability at City Hall, which will include enacting public comment for all Cleveland residents.
Community Question Featured local question
I do not think downtown is healthy for ALL Clevelanders. My definition of a healthy downtown is that of strong diversity represented within the businesses and recreation and that is a welcoming environment for all different economic backgrounds. A healthy downtown should be a hub for connecting neighborhoods all over Cleveland. Changes I’d like to make is to have more open restrooms outside of businesses, create a food truck hub and have mobile social services areas where people can get better access to resources.
Community Question Featured local question
If I were to receive a $1 million dollar grant for Cleveland. I would use it for the homeowners facing foreclosure. Although $1 million dollars would not be enough, I would use it for the aforementioned reason as we’re currently facing a housing crisis here in the United States and Cleveland. We need to take preventive measures to ensure the safety and security of our homeowner communities.
Community Question Featured local question
The city’s current approach to public safety is misguided and dangerous. They’re approach is more police and more tactical equipment while never addressing the causative factors of crime. I would most definitely take different positions for a new approach to public safety. I would encourage and support a co-responder model of public safety,(to include mental health crisis specialists, code enforcement and conflict mediation) the approach will be more wholistic and increase community engagement as it pertains the safety of the community.
Aisia Jones is deeply committed to fighting for solutions for causes such as social and racial justice, housing rights, job opportunities, and mental health services. Her platform includes issues such as community revitalization, public health, public safety, and transparency within local government.
The qualities this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the state and legal system is that of supporting and pushing legislation that will directly impact those within the jurisdiction.
The most important characteristics or principles an elected official should possess are accountability , transparency, integrity and an elected official must have great interpersonal skills.
The first historical event that happened in my lifetime that I remember was the attacks on 9/11 . I was 11 years old and remember being confused and scared.
I believe that more people should be aware of the CDBG funding that’s allotted to each ward for various reasons that will benefit the residents.
I believe having experience with project management, leadership, knowledge of state and local policies. Skills that would be most helpful would include interpersonal skills, money management, relational organizing skills and active listening skills.
