The Alabama Municipal Economic Development, Amendment 24, also known as Amendment 24, was on the ballot in Alabama on December 9, 1969, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the cities of Hartselle and Decatur in Morgan County would be authorized to purchase and manipulate all kinds of property for the purpose of promoting the economic and agricultural development. The cities would be authorized to invest, lend credit or grant public money for such endeavors. The above economic development must be first approved by a majority of electors in each municipality.[1]
