Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Beinstein's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Auditing the Fed: This bill unfortunately only got 53 votes in the Senate, but it is crucial that we try again. If Democrats like Bernie Sanders and Tammy Baldwin support it, certainly there is enough goodwill among both parties to scrutinize what the Federal Reserve is really doing with our tax dollars. If small businesses don't have direct access to it, why should big American banks?
  • Returning our Lands, Rivers, and Natural Resources to the States: With the federal government owning more than 600 million acres of land, it is time to return such property back to the States. Washington DC shouldn't control how we use our lands and water and mines here in Colorado, we should.
  • Unwinding the Department of Education down: Local educators need to control education, not Washington. Let's put an end to this unconstitutional usurpation of local power. No more wasted resources or bureaucracy, bring the power back.
  • Standing up for our Navy: President Obama's recent budget cut our Navy budget. Yet most military analysts will tell you that our greatest future threat will come in the waters of the South China Sea. In order to resist China's aggressive and increasingly hegemonic activity against Vietnam, the Philippines, and Taiwan, we must have a Navy second to none. Under no conditions can we sit back and let China take over the world.
  • Honoring the 2nd Amendment: Obama's recent unconstitutional executive orders went so far as to give psychiatrists the unilateral authority to take away their patient's guns without due process or their consent. The 2nd Amendment is a fundamental right of self-defense given to us by our founders to protect against a potentially tyrannical government. We can never lose sight of that.
