Anthony A. Monton was the chief judge for the 27th Circuit Court and 78th District Court in Michigan (counties of Oceana and Newaygo). He was first elected to the circuit court in 1988, effective January 1, 1989. He was re-elected to six-year terms in 1994, 2000, 2006, and 2012. On October 13, 2016, he announced his retirement from the bench, effective March 1, 2017.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Monton received his B.A. from Michigan State University in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in 1976.[1]

Career

Monton worked as a private practice lawyer with the Urick and Monton Law Firm from 1976 until he was elected to the circuit court in 1988. He was also an Oceana County prosecuting attorney from 1981 to 1988.[1]
