The Arkansas Judicial Appointments Alternate Proposal was on the ballot in Arkansas on November 4, 1980, as a constitutional convention referral, where it was voted that supreme court justices and court of appeals judges should be selected by nonpartisan elections rather than by merit-based appointment.[1][2]
