Ava S. Raphael
Ava Shapero Raphael was a judge for the Onondaga County Surrogate's Court in New York. She joined the court in 2009, following her election.[1] Raphael retired in 2017.
Education
Raphael received her B.A. and M.A. from Syracuse University in 1969 and 1971, respectively, before continuing on at the Syracuse University College of Law and earning her J.D. in 1989.[1]
Career
Raphael began her career in 1989 as a law clerk to Hon. Peter Wells of the Onondaga County Surrogate's Court. She left that position later that year. She also served briefly as an associate attorney of Mackenzie Hughes LLP in 1989 and 1990. From 1992 through 2008, she served as chief clerk of the Onondaga County Surrogate's Court. She then became a judge of that court in 2009.[1]
