Barbara A. Buchanan was a district judge for the First Judicial District in Bonner County, Idaho. She was appointed by Governor Butch Otter on January 16, 2013 to fill a vacancy left by Steve Verby, who took senior status.[1] She was re-elected in May 2014 for a term that expires in January 2019.[2][3]

Buchanan retired from the First Judicial District on January 30, 2023.[4]

Buchanan received her J.D. from the University of Idaho Law School in 1983.[7]

Career

Before her appointment to the district court, Buchanan was a magistrate court judge for the First Judicial District.[8] Before serving on the magistrate court she engaged in private practice.[7]
