Youngblood is a retired principal and adjunct professor with Lindenwood University. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and her doctoral degree in special education from Saint Louis University. Youngblood has been recognized with many honors including the Metropolitan Saint Louis Alliance of Black School Educators award and the Saint Louis American's Salute to Excellence award.[1]

Three seats on the Hazelwood School District school board were up for at-large general election on April 4, 2017. A total of six candidates filed for the seats. Board incumbent Brenda C. Youngblood faced challengers Mark Behlmann, Margo McNeil, Elizabeth Rachel, Marcus Allen, and Benton Smith. Youngblood, Behlmann, and McNeil won the election.[2][3]
