Morton ran for election to the 20th District Court.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 25.9 percent of the vote. He competed against Thomas K. Baldwin, Tim Burson, and Bob Pinkerton.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 40.6 percent of the vote. He competed against Thomas K. Baldwin.

Morton received his bachelor's degree and J.D. from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.[3]

Morton is an attorney in private practice.[4]
